25th Anniversary

In 1988, Kelly and Constantin Apetrei, after retiring from professional ballet careers, moved to the Northshore in search of a new home for their budding family, and opened The Apetrei Dancenter.

A quarter of a century later, they continue to provide our area with an unmatched caliber of instruction!

The Apetrei Dancenter recently received the LEGACY AWARD from St. Tammany West Chamber of Commerce

in appreciation for bringing the art of dance to our area for 25 years!!

In 1989, Constantin and Kelly formed BALLET APETREI, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the mission of providing an opportunity for area youths to train in a professional environment and dance alongside International Guest Artists. Over the last 25 years, BALLET APETREI has staged annuall full-length productions of The Nutcracker, and has presented numerous seasonal performances including excerpts from Giselle, Raymonda, La Bayadere and other well-know ballets. In addition  Constantin Apetrei’s original ballet, Edward Scissorhands premiered in 1998. In honor of its 25th anniversary, BALLET APETREI will once again perform EDWARD SCISSORHANDS this summer – July 20 & 21 – at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Covington.
